BCM adds to it’s ARM (RISC) product offering with a Linux compatible System-on-Chip (SoC) SBC featuring Freescale® Cortex™-A8 i.MX515 processor providing dedicated hardware-based video acceleration, low power, extended battery life, and fanless operation

BCM Advanced Research, a leading designer and manufacturer of embedded computing boards and intelligent systems, has added another ARM (RISC) based small form factor system-on-chip motherboard to its line-up. The AR51MX single board computer (SBC) is equipped with the Freescale Cortex-A8 i.MX515 multimedia applications processor onboard providing excellent cost performance and low power consumption making the SBC ideal for portable devices or for those applications that require fanless operation in harsh environments. The AR51MX ARM SBC supports OpenGL ES 2.0 and Open VG 1.1 hardware accelerators providing enhanced 2D/3D graphics and multi-format HD 720p videos on embedded systems. Such applications include media phones, tablets, portable navigation systems, IP cameras, mobile medical devices, medical thin client computers on wheels (COWS), to name a few.
