SOM
stands for System-On-Module. BCM's SOMs are component-like
system boards with complete PC functionality that plug into
application-specific baseboards through high-density, low
profile, surface-mount connectors. The surface-mount connectors
carry both ISA and PCI bus signals as well as dedicated I/O
interfaces. SOMs are also scaleable and interchangeable, and
deliver rapid development of semi-custom solutions for embedded
applications. |

Get ahead start on
the competition with tailor computing solutions in a revolutionary
speed! BCM now brings you the System-On-Module (SOM) product
line along with the 30-day Baseboard Prototyping Services
(BPS) to help you gain the competitive edge in saving time,
cutting cost, reducing risk, increasing performance, providing
scalability and ensuring reliability. Comparing to traditional
single board computer, the SOM line cuts development time
and cost by up to 60% without compromising quality and functionality.
With BCM's Baseboard Prototyping Services (BPS), we guarantee
three reliable and ready-to-run prototype samples within 30
days upon project acceptance! Just supply us the custom specification
including carrier board dimension, add-on functionality and
I/O connectors, and you can immediately cut down 60% of development
time and cost during the entire customization process. |

BCM's
SOM series fully integrates PC functionality with scalable
platforms and CPU performance. Our wide selection of CPU processors
gives flexibility and scalability that meet different performance
requirements.
SOM core modules are interchangeable
as long as they provide the same features. They work like
a highly integrated chip, interfacing directly to any form
factor system board containing application-specific logic
and I/O connections. For example, customers can easily upgrade
a system by replacing the system module with one that has
a faster CPU. |
| |
 |
With
all core logic components included on the SOM CPU module,
the system integrators are now able to focus their design
resources on their application-specific system board, and
ignore the impact of the dynamic nature of CPU and chipset
evolution. These custom carrier boards can accept any SOM
core logic module, no matter it's an BCM or third party module.
As a result, this will substantially
reduce the time and cost on research and development up to
60% and ensure and extended product life span of the baseboard.
The solution-oriented baseboard can be either designed by
the customer or with BCM's Baseboard Prototyping Services
that delivers engineering sample in 30 Days. |
